The Road Not Taken
Summer Sequels Series
Part Two: I take the more traveled road
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by
but now for the sequel I return
to that fork and take the other turn
and I find that since its the more ordinary way to go
I am no longer called a freak or weirdo
And when people see me they don’t point at me and sneer
“There’s the Bob who took the less traveled road, did you hear?”
No, they don’t even notice me a bit.
As I walk into town to get some shit
To mend my fence and a few other labors
Turns out good fences do make good neighbors
(I was wrong about that as well
I wish my stupid neighbor would go to hell)
Yeah, I shoulda taken the road more often took
And put this poem in my poetry book.
Instead of all that “road not taken” crap
A poem like this woulda really put me on the map.
Stay tuned for Part Three
“The Freeway Comes Through and Further Complicates the Issue.”
